私たちにとって、モノとはすでにどこかで見覚えのある存在である。

私たちはそれをすぐに認識したり、あるいは何気なく通り過ぎたりする。

NOVOは、そのモノを少し異なる視点で捉える。

異なるイメージが、一つの画面の中に同時に置かれる。

それらは重なり、連なり、あるいは異なる高さや比率で接続されていく。

それぞれは見慣れたものだが、その関係性はどこか新鮮である。

一つの場面として整理されるのではなく、 複数のイメージが同時に立ち現れる。

文字盤、カップ、封筒、ロケット、イヤホンといった すでに知っている形のモノたち。

しかしそれらは、本来の場所から離れている。

あるものは平面にとどまり、 あるものはオブジェとして空間へと広がる。

イメージは画面の中に閉じることなく、 空間へと連続していく。

ハローキティやE.T.のようなキャラクターも、そこに並置される。

それらは容易に認識されるが、単純に消費されることはない。

「Cuteness Saves the World（かわいいは世界を救う）」という言葉も、 同じような距離感で置かれている。

それは強く主張するのではなく、 ひとつの視点として静かに残る。

NOVOの制作は、新しいイメージを生み出すというよりも、 すでに存在しているものに立ち返り、 それをあらためて見つめ直す行為に近い。

Objects are already something familiar to us.

We recognize them immediately, or simply pass them by.

NOVO looks at these objects in a slightly different way.

Different images appear together within a single surface.

They are stacked, extended, or connected at varying heights and scales.

Each element is familiar, but their relation feels unfamiliar.

Rather than forming a single scene, multiple images are seen at once.

A clock face, a cup, an envelope, a rocket, an earphone — objects we already know.

Yet they are no longer in their original place. Some remain on the surface, while others extend into objects.

Images do not stay within the frame, but continue into space.

Characters such as Hello Kitty or E.T. are also present.

They are easily recognized, but not simply consumed. “Cuteness Saves the World” is placed in a similar way.

It does not insist, but remains as a way of looking.

This work does not create new images, but returns to what already exists and looks at it again.

NOVO Artist Bio (JPN) NOVO（1982年生まれ）は、ソウルを拠点に活動するアーティストである。 絵画を基盤としながら、オブジェやインスタレーションへと展開し、 空間へと広がる表現を実践している。 彼の制作は、日常の中で出会うモノやイメージから始まる。 時計、カップ、ロケット、キャラクターなど、 すでに私たちにとって馴染みのある形が繰り返し登場する。 それらは特定の意味を伝える記号というよりも、 作家が継続して見つめ、選び取ってきた対象に近い。 NOVOは、それらのイメージを単に再現するのではなく、 異なる方法で接続し、再配置することで、 画面の中に新たな関係性を生み出す。 一つの視点に収束するのではなく、 複数の視線やイメージが共存しながら、ひとつの構造を形成する。 近年の作品では、このアプローチは平面を超え、 オブジェや空間へと拡張され、 イメージと物質性が同時に作用する形へと展開されている。 また、世界的なファッションブランドや多様なデザインブランドとの協働を通じて、 作品を日常の領域へと広げ、領域横断的な活動を続けている。 NOVOの作品は、何かを強く語るものではなく、 すでに知っているものを、もう一度見つめ直すことへと導く。

NOVO (b. 1982) is an artist based in Seoul. Grounded in painting, his practice extends across objects and installation, expanding into a broader spatial language. His work begins with images and objects encountered in everyday life. Familiar forms—such as clocks, cups, rockets, and characters—recur throughout his work. Rather than functioning as symbols, these objects reflect what the artist continues to observe and return to. Instead of simply reproducing these images, NOVO connects and repositions them, creating new relationships within a single surface. Multiple viewpoints and elements coexist, forming a structure that resists a single, fixed reading. In recent works, this approach extends beyond the surface into objects and space, where images and material presence operate together. At the same time, he actively collaborates with global fashion houses and various design brands, expanding his practice into everyday contexts through a wide range of interdisciplinary activities. NOVO’s work is less about delivering a message than about inviting a second look at what is already known. ■
