1951年にフィンランドの首都ヘルシンキで設立されたマリメッコは、目にするだけで元気が出るデザイン哲学、大胆なプリントによって世界中に広く知られる、フィンランド発ライフスタイルデザインハウスです。2021年、マリメッコはその70年にわたる「プリント作りのアート」の歴史を祝うスペシャルなエキシビジョンを代官山 蔦屋書店で開催します。このエキシビジョンでは、公式アートブック新刊『Marimekko: The Art of Printmaking』をはじめ、時代を超えて愛されてきたファブリックデザインとそのストーリーを、写真家オスマ・ハルヴィラフティのインスピレーション溢れるフォト作品とともに紹介します。
新刊『Marimekko: The Art of Printmaking』（レアード・ボレッリ＝パーソン著 邦訳版『マリメッコ プリント作りのアート』は青幻舎より刊行）は、マリメッコの最も象徴的なデザインのストーリーを紹介しています。100以上のパターン、無限大のカラー展開、そして豊富なアーカイブ資料を網羅した本書は、プリント好きの方なら必読の一冊です。
Founded in 1951 in Helsinki, Marimekko is a Finnish lifestyle design house renowned worldwide for its empowering design philosophy and bold prints. In 2021, Marimekko celebrates seven decades of the art of printmaking at Daikanyama T-Site Tsutaya with a special exhibition that brings you the new art book Marimekko: The Art of Printmaking, alongside timeless printed fabric designs and their stories, accompanied by inspiring photography by Osma Harvilahti.
Written by Laird Borrelli-Persson and published by Seigensha, Marimekko: The Art of Printmaking tells the story of the house’s most iconic designs. With over 100 patterns, a multitude of colorways and a wealth of archival material this book is an essential read for print and pattern enthusiasts.
