言語を学ぶことは、常に「進行中」であり、終わりのない旅です。この長く継続的な過程においては、学びを楽しみ、興味を持ち続けることが大切です。
そのためには、視覚的に心を惹きつける表現──すなわちイラストレーションの力が大きな役割を果たします。
その理念をもとに、日本語能力試験N1資格を有するインドネシア人イラストレーター Ferdi により「Gengoya(言語屋）」が立ち上げられました。
Gengoyaは、日本語初学者が直面する「情報の過多」や「教科書における語彙・文化理解の難しさ」といった課題に着目し、より効果的で親しみやすい学習の形を模索してきました。イラストレーションを通じた視覚的コミュニケーションの技術を活かし、学習者が日本語を直感的に理解できる表現を追求しています。
Gengoya の特徴は、ミニマルでありながら温かみのあるイラストレーションスタイルにあります。複雑な日本語の知識を、誰もが容易に受け取れる視覚的要素へと変換し、学びの過程そのものを豊かに彩ります。
本展では、これまでに制作された Gengoya のイラストレーションおよび関連プロダクトを展示し、その創造的な歩みと発展の軌跡を紹介いたします。
■クリエイターについて
フェルディ・トリハディは、2025年時点でイラストレーター／グラフィックデザイナーとして15年の経験を持ち、日本語能力試験N1を取得し、九州大学大学院でデザインストラテジーの修士号を取得しました。日本語と日本文化への深い理解とデザイン経験を活かし、学習者が言語とより深くつながるためのビジュアル教材やグッズのブランド「言語屋」を立ち上げました。

About The [Japanese Learning in Progress] Exhibition:
Learning a language is a journey that is always "in progress." Because this process is long and continuous, it's crucial to keep the study enjoyable and engaging, and this is where illustration plays an important role. With this belief, Gengoya was created by Ferdi, an Indonesian illustrator who holds the JLPT N1 certification.
Gengoya is focusing directly on the specific challenges faced by new learners, such as overwhelming information and the difficulty of understanding new vocabulary and cultural concepts in textbooks. Gengoya utilizes image-communication skills to improve how beginner learners acquire Japanese, using a signature minimalistic and approachable illustration style to transform complex Japanese language knowledge into instantly accessible visual elements.
This exhibition showcases Gengoya illustrations and products developed over the years, marking the project's evolution.
About The Creator:
Ferdi Trihadi is an illustrator and graphic designer with 15 years of experience and 10 years of Japanese learning as of 2025. He holds an N1 certification in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and earned his Master’s degree in Design Strategy from Kyushu University. Combining his deep understanding of Japanese language and culture with his design expertise, he launched Gengoya, a project that delivers visual learning materials and systems to help learners connect more deeply with the language.
